The Carmel School was established in 1986 as part of the Carmel Baptist Church in Ruther Glen, VA, less than a mile from the school’s current campus. Incorporated in September 1999, The Carmel School provides education in three distinct divisions serving students in grades pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. The school remains committed to its goal of providing a college preparatory education rooted in academic excellence in a Christian environment.
Our Mission
The mission of The Carmel School has remained unchanged for years.
Together, we prepare students for success in our ever-changing world by creating a community supportive of academic, physical, and spiritual growth rooted in Christian values to instill honor and integrity.
The Story of Us
With success came growth, and the needs of the student and faculty population expanded beyond what could be provided by the Carmel Baptist Church. The school separated from the Carmel Baptist Church, purchased land, and began construction on the current campus in 2005. The new facility opened in 2006 with a main building containing classrooms and offices for all students, faculty, and staff, as well as a gymnasium for competitive athletics and physical education classes. In 2020, the school opened a third building that provided additional classroom and office space and is currently designated for our Middle and Upper School students and staff.
In 2026, The Carmel School will be celebrating 40 years as an independent Christian college-preparatory school.
